The role of metabolism and energy in brain health and disease
Elena Gross
(Neuroscientist)
Discover how metabolism shapes brain function — and why tiny cellular structures called mitochondria may hold the key to neurological health. In this talk, neuroscientist and CEO of the startup KetoSwiss Dr. Elena Gross, PhD explores the emerging science of ketone bodies as an alternative brain fuel and their potential protective effects on the brain through mechanisms including improved energy metabolism, reduced oxidative stress, and enhanced neuronal resilience. The session will cover research on ketogenic interventions in migraine, depression, and Alzheimer’s disease, and introduce the scientific rationale behind Brain Ritual, a metabolism-focused approach to brain health.
Cancer get nervous too
Javier Pareja Roman
(PostDoc at Department of Biomedicine ,University of Basel)
We used to see cancer as a growing mass of malignant cells, but we now know that tumours are complex ecosystems wired by our peripheral nerves. This talk explores how our peripheral nervous system interact with tumours and how pain-related pathways actively shape tumour progression and anti-tumor immunity.
