Our brain is constantly changing. New experiences, environmental influences, and social interactions shape our brain throughout life. This ability to adapt, known as plasticity, is the foundation of learning, memory, and development. In sensitive periods, such as early childhood, the brain is especially malleable. However, even later in life, we can acquire new skills and adjust to change. How does this mechanism work, and what factors influence it?

This informal talk will (free) range from work I have conducted looking at the effects of gruesome videos of animals in slaughterhouses, the personalities of vegans and vegetarians, and to the link between meat consumption and depression. So come grab a pint and let's chew the fat.
