Come and get a picture of what research looks like in the most advanced institutions.

The main objective of my talk is to showcase how we use advanced microscopes to visualize the incredibly small building blocks of our world. Specifically, I will focus on how Scanning Probe Microscopy allows us to see atoms, molecules, and even electrons.

I will begin by highlighting the role of forces in our daily lives and how these forces shape the world at a much smaller scale. Then, I will explore what happens when we try to control these forces to improve our lives. To do that, we first need to observe them—because seeing is believing. This idea naturally leads to an introduction to Scanning Probe Microscopy, which I will explain gradually with the help of animations.

To make the experience more tangible, I might provide raw materials for the audience to examine, helping them grasp how size scales down to the atomic level. The talk will feature stunning microscopic images, which I believe will captivate and inspire the audience.

But beyond the buzz, there are truly impactful technologies grounded in quantum physics. Among them, quantum computing stands out as one of the most promising. In particular, we will discuss a local project aiming to develop a low-cost, open-source quantum computer. Come and discover what it’s really about!
