Change, AI, Performance - How to prevent burnout?

Bernadett Treso (Integral, Personality-& Life Coach)

Why your muscles matter - and how ultrasound lets us spy on them.

Paul Ritsche (PhD student at the Department of Sport, Exercise and Health - University of Basel)
Muscles are powering our everyday life. They produce the strength we need to climb stairs, lift a heavy grocery bag, or run for the bus. However, as we get older, we lose our muscles faster then we’d probably like to admit, and that has real consequences for everyday life. But here’s the thing: we can fight back. Resistance training is one of the most powerful tools we have to slow the process down. But how do we study what is going on inside a muscle? Using the same technology as doctors peeking at babies in the womb, we can watch muscles using ultrasound. No scalpels or needles needed. Come find out what your muscles are up to and why it’s never too late to start caring for them.

When Fido bites - pet associated pathogens

Adrian Egli (Prof. at University of Zurich)
Dogs are often our best friends. But what happens when bacteria from a harmless dog lick suddenly become dangerous? In this talk, I will introduce Capnocytophaga canimorsus, a rare bacterium carried by many dogs and cats that can occasionally cause life-threatening infections in humans. We will explore how scientists use genome sequencing and international collaborations to understand these infections, track antibiotic resistance, and improve diagnosis and treatment.
